Hardened is a story about a soldier going through war and having to
toughen it out until it is all over. He is beat, tired, and clouded with
emptiness, yet he continues to battle on. He lights up a cigarette and
takes a break. The soft colors juxtaposed by the hatches create a
tug-of-war relationship between the humanity he has left against the
world that’s coming at him.
